When Jim O'Keefe launched the salon in 1986 his goal was to be a leader in style and customer satisfaction. The salon creates a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere where clients can feel welcome into our community. With a favorable location in downtown Mill Valley and convenient hours, we provide our clientele with a full range of hair and nail services, including a strategically trained staff. Jim O'Keefe, Owner and Founder of At the Top Gallery/Salon began his career as a hair dresser 25 years ago (and still cuts most of his original clients!) He was educated at Skyline College San Francisco as well as advanced instruction with Framesi, Redken and Bumble & Bumble; Jim's forte is colors & cuts including razor cuts. His attention to detail has led him to develop close and personal relationships with his regulars. When not at work his pursuits are theatre, films and personal development.

Tomm Dedini, Stylist-Tomm grew up in beautiful Northern California and then moved to Beverley Hills where he worked for more than 25 years catering to star’s such as Peter Falk, young Anne Hathaway and Tyler Florence. Deciding to move from LA to San Francisco Tomm is now using his expertise At the Top Salon/Gallery. Tomm creates beautiful cuts, shimmering color and perfect updo’s for any occasion. He loves meeting new people and enjoys the before and after looks he so artfully masters.

Bonnie Fitzsimmons, Stylist - Bonnie is At the Top's current Jr. Stylist/Assistant and we couldn’t be more pleased. Bonnie has a unique talent to put people completely at ease by her manner and skill. Coming from a background in the dental industry and with her experience at Industrial Light and Magic Bonnie combines technical expertise with a relaxed, informed confidence. Bonnie is a graduate of the San Rafael Beauty Academy.

Jon Paul, Aesthetician-Jon Paul from Jon Paul International has been doing make-up and skincare for 23yrs.and learning all the way. He has lived and worked in fashion in Italy for 10yrs working at magazine shoots and traveling with Shiseido and Chanel doing make-up and skincare. Jon Paul attended cosmetology school and learned the most through his hands-on education. Jon Paul say’s “I discovered at an early age that I have a sixth sense about people and that my hands are gifted, intuitive and massage came naturally.”

Katrina von Straten, Aesthetician- Katrina joins us from Katrina’s Skincare. Katrina is well known throughout Marin County as an aesthetician with a "healing touch". Her passion for helping women, men, and young people achieve and maintain beautiful skin, combined with her extensive training, knowledge, and experience makes her one of the most sought after aestheticians in Marin. Katrina has been a licensed aesthetician for 20 years. She specializes in skin analysis, facials, & waxing, and she is known for her artistic style, including eyebrow artistry, tinting, and shaping.

Liane Berringer, Salon Manager-Liane grew up in Marin and has lived here for the past 13 years with here husband and daughter. As her daughter was ready to enter High School, Liane felt like the time was right for here to get back to work outside the home. Last summer, to her surprise, At The Top was looking for a salon manager. Her timing seemed to be just right and we are so happy she is back! Liane brings a renewed sense of enthusiasm, great warmth with clients and a capable mother’s touch to get things done. “I love being back in the salon! The creative atmosphere and interactions with the clients (a few I remember from the past) along with the stylists has been a fantastic experience.”
